We had lunch at the Summer Shack at Mohegan Sun last weekend. I talked my husband into it, as we haven't yet ventured out to the original (not a favorite on this board, hence the reticence). Jasper White should be ashamed, and perhaps he would be if he checked it out incognito. Chowder base had a nice consistency, and floating in it were several pieces of chopped celery and a spoonful of rubbery clams. Lobster roll was a crying disappointment: 3 bites of lobster salad (heavy on the mayo) and a tired leaf of lettuce on a mushy white hotdog bun. Period. Priced at $16, Kelly's will fill a good roll tenfold for $2 less. Shameful, really, for a cheap chain restaurant, but even more egregious when meted out by a celebrated local chef.
Atmosphere is old garage, classic rock, service very friendly, but will never go back.
Does this place reflect Summer Shack in general, or is the Mohegan Sun outpost just a cheap imitation?
