Suggestions for a romantic lunch?

Matt M. | Sep 13, 2005 09:50 AM

I would like to celbrate my wife's birthday on the 24th (Saturday) with a nice lunch. We have a baby, which is why we opt for lunch in Manhattan's better locales. He is well behaved, but the more casual lunch atmosphere makes us feel more at ease bringing him out.

My first choice would have been Daniel, but they are not open for lunch. My second choice was Ladey Mendl's because my wife has been dying to try it (she loves high tea). They don't allow children on the weekends. I currently have reservations at Bouley since we haven't been there in several years. We actually like Danube better, but I took her there last year. We tried Aquavit's new locale for lunch for my birthday, so that is out too.

I also made a reservation for the earliest seating at Daniel and they were very open and accommodating to have the baby. But, I am looking for backup plans. I was also thinking about tea at the Ritz, but I can't find a listing for where to book it.

Any other ideas?
