suggestions for a light version of pumpkin bread?

anyone have suggestions on how to lighten a pumpkin bread? i've tried adding applesauce instead of the oil and it really just lost texture/flavor.

would non-fat buttermilk be another idea? when should certain "light" ingredients (applesauce, non-fat buttermilk, etc.) be used?

maybe i'll find the recipe and post it up later...
