Sugar Park Tavern - NY Pizza

Based on Batterdip, we anxiously tried Sugar Park Tavern, in our search for a NE style Pizza....

The verdict..... 4 ½ Beans

800 France at Dauphine..... Tel 940-6226 - limited delivery area Kitchen open 3PM - 11PM
funky Bywater Bohemian atmosphere

Asked for an anchovy pizza, for the Boss’s salt fix, but they slipped - the one topping they didn’t have, settled for a ½ sausage.

Came out a tad overdone.... crust thin and crisp, but so that could not fold the slice.... the Boss reminded me that they put more oil on NJ pizzas.... Taste, excellent.....

Asked for garlic and oregano.... no powdered garlic, but they give us some fresh squeezed garlic to put on.... As it was a tad overdone, no problem with spreading the crushed garlic evenly.... a problem with the “soupy when out of the oven” pizza at Venezia... will bring my own garlic powder next time as I do at “V’s”.

Instead of oregano, was given grated Parmesan....

I usually like minimal toppings on pizza as the more you pile on, the less crip the crust...

Overall Rating..... Some of the best pizza I’ve had south of the Smith and Wesson Line... will be going back.... they keep up the quality.... will be again and again...

Now, if they could do a clam and garlic pizza like Star Tavern in West Orange.......
