Sugar Bowl Bakery & Restaurant Pho

chowhoundX | May 7, 2002 11:11 PM

I am no Vietnamese expert, but I had the best bowl of Pho I ever had at the Sugar Bowl Bakery and Restaurant (480 Toland, near Jerrold, one block South of the Army on-ramp to 101). The broth was deep with beef and cilantro. The noodles were fine yet firm, and the meat -- thin slices of beef but also some very thick slices, like the ones you'd get in a hearty flank steak sandwich. I could not finish all the meat in the bowl. Mind you, it was 8am. They close at 3:30pm, I guess because the distribution/warehouse district closes down. This place is a supplier of donuts/baked goods and operates the restaurant behind a small retail area.
