Stupid lasagna noodle question

I am making lasagna for Christmas Eve. I have lasagna sheets that were fresh, then frozen at home and are now defrosting in the refrigerator. Any suggestions, tips or tricks for making the noodle component of the lasagna perfect? Last time I used them the lasagna seemed a bit tough or doughy. Perhaps it is just the nature of these particular noodles but if you have a suggestion for ensuring perfection, please sound off.
