I'm taking my boyfriend out for his 27th birthday and have some ideas for places to go but would appreciate any input, especially newer places, since I haven't been keeping up on my chowhound recently.
I'd like to find a place with fantastic food/wine, in an inspired setting, with a fun, youthful atmosphere, south of 14th street. Past birthday meals have been at WD50 and 71 Clinton and both were sensational and I am thinking of other places in that vein. My current idea is Jack's Luxury Oyster Bar, but if there are other ideas I'd love to hear them. Would also appreciate any comments on Jack's, since my searches didn't yield much on that. Are the non-raw-bar items really awesome? (They look awesome!) What about Spice Market? Will we swoon over the food or get frustrated standing in line and end up having a fight and going to bed early? What about BLT Steak? What about Savoy? Since I handmake pasta for us all the time at home I'm not really looking for an Italian place.
