special night for 2

I am looking to send a couple in their early 30s out for a top notch meal in Chicago. They are visiting for just two weeks. I want it to be a special place, one worth driving in from the burbs, worth leaving the kids with a sitter, worth talking about for the next year when they are back working in a post-conflict zone, AKA no good food in sight. What would you recommend? It looks like this board is full of support for North Pond, mk, Naha and a few others. I have never been to Chicago so any advice is appreciated. Is there one place that stands above for food? Some atmosphere would be good too.
