special birthday dinner Montreal- which restos?

JToronto | Feb 17, 2016 10:37 AM

Toronto hound being taken to Hotel Le St-James for my birthday, lucky me! Two big dinners out planned. We have been to Au Pied de Cochon before and have eaten regional Quebecois cuisine around the province so not necessarily looking for super-representative, or "montreal unique" food - just looking for the best "special" dinner out. Have not been east to Montreal for several years. Beautiful surroundings & good service important as well as creative & tasty food. Thinking possibly Le Club Chasse et Peche for one night as closer to the hotel but happy to take metro out to the Plateau for one or both meals if we will enjoy more. Not fans of foie gras but eat everything else. Probably not seeking Asian or Italian, as done so well here in Toronto. Would consider Toque! or Europea, as we do enjoy the multi-course tasting menu but perhaps we have been too spoiled by Eleven Madison Park and Michel Bras experiences....? Good wine is also a priority. Which 2 of the following would you choose (or what would you substitute?). Apologies I don't have a French keyboard

Club Chasse et Peche
Bouillon Bilk
Hotel Herman
Lemeac
Toque!
Europea
....something else....

Many thanks
