This is two farmers market questions and one restaurant question.
Semmel had a question that was first buried in a different thread and then derailed by me into a different, uh, discussion.
The question was whether good radishes are appearing at the farmers markets yet?
I haven't been about to get to a farmers market lately and my question is "are figs being sold yet".
I want to go to the Girl and the Fig in Sonoma, but I wanted to wait until fresh figs were available. I saw some sorry looking figs in the corner market the other day. Are they being sold at farmers markets? Is it fig season, part 1 (part 2 is August). Haven't seen them mentioned in the weekly Ferry Plaza newsletter.
This is my first time at The Girl and the Fig. If there are fresh fig dishes on the menu, I'm going for those. However, what else is good. Searching through posts, their cheese tray and the mussels seemed to be recommended. Of course, the fig salad seems a must order.
However, the last full report I could find was 2002 and the one before that 2000 when they were still in Glen Ellen. Any other recs?
What would be the best time to go? Lunch, Brunch or dinner? I'm sort of thinking of going tommorrow at about 3-4 so I can combine it with a trip to the Sonoma farmers market. Is it unwise to go at a shift change hour?
