On a trip from Georgia to Kentucky last weekend I stopped at the Slick Pig in Murfreesboro, TN and had exceptional smoked chicken wings. The experience has got me excited about trying a broader range of barbecued food -- that is, not just pork. Mind you I still like my ribs and bbq sandwiches, but I guess I'm starting to think in terms of slow-smoked fare more generally . . .
I know Texas is known for beef & goat and western Kentucky has mutton. Is there anything interesting closer to home? (For me, that's Athens, GA, so I guess I'm talking about GA, SC, AL, eastern TN, and western NC.)
