Hi Chowhounds!

I write for a South Bay weekly paper, and I'm writing a piece about diners in the area. I'm in search of comfort food in a retro-style environment--or at least with retro-style service/food. I've perused the archives and the articles here and haven't found any info, so I'm putting out the appeal: Are there any diners you'd recommend in or around the vague Silicon Valley area?

I'm familiar with the Mini Gourmet, 4th St. Bowl, Cozy Kitchen (eek), Sam's Log Cabin, and Happy Dayz.

I am not interested in chains such as Johnny Rockets.

Many thanks, and I will be sure to give credit where it is due.
