Last night, Sophias Grotto in Roslindale Village had an opening party. Since I have some friends who know the owners, and my friends know that I like free food and beer, they asked if I wanted to join them. First off, this is not the easiest restaurant to find since the entrance is not on Birch St., but is in a courtyard. There is a sign though so just be on the look out for that.
The atmosphere is very comfortable, making it a good spot for dinner with that special friend or for a place to get food and pints with some friends. Their business card says that it is Casual Mediterranean. Their menu has something for all tastes, and prices range from $7 paninis and pizzas to $15 seafood dishes. Out for tasting they had a few bruchettas (the eggplant and caper one was my favorite), delicious pasta with broccoli rabe (and I am not a pasta fan), and one of their goat cheese wood oven pizzas. I really liked everything, and not just because it was free.
I am planning to go there for a real meal within the next week or 2. Also, I cannot wait for the summer since they do have outside seating!
