soft shell sandwich

I had my first soft shells of the season for lunch today at America's Seafood. This is a fish monger behind the strip mall on Lee Hwy that contains Arrowine and Crisp and Juicy. He has a half dozen tables on a little patio, and he makes fresh seafood sandwiches and platters. I frequently have a sandwich when I stop in to pick up fish for dinner.

The fish comes right from the case and is prepared when you order. When I walked in, I saw soft shells in the case that had just been delivered, so fresh that they were practically crawling out of the case. Two decent-sized crabs were very lightly floured and juicy, on a small sub roll with lettuce and tomato. Very yummy. I never find fried fish here to be greasy from frying at too low temperature, which is one of my peeves with a lot of places.

Grilled and blackened fish are also available, as are cole slaw and boardwalk-style fries.
