Not the knotted and salted leather gloves sold from street carts, but . . . well, for sentimental purposes, I'd love to find really good soft pretzels in Manhattan along the lines of what were once available on St. Mark's Place between 2nd and 3rd, in a place that also sold remarkably good "barbecued pizza" by the slice. A total hole-in-the-wall, but the soft pretzels were toothsome, tender, and yes, available slathered with butter and cinnamon-sugar, silly cheese sauce (in a dipping little Dixie cup), and various other delicious atrocities. This wasn't a chain along the lines of what you can find at South Street Seaport. They were really pretty good, and my sig. other misses them profoundly (we live near St. Mark's Place). O, can anyone help?
