Returned to Iberia of the nice tapas/crappy service. Service was fine tonight as opposed to last time:
However, you will never be asked if you want another drink or have your water refilled automatically, so you just need to know that in advance. We ate at the bar again because we like tapas, and it is only served at the bar for dinner. Some dishes that can be served as tapas at Spanish restaurants can still be found as appetizers on the main menu.
I just wanted to rave about the simplest dish in the world. 2-3 small bay scallops battered together with a light , thicker, airy poof of batter (similar to the batter on a beer-battered onion ring). The slightly sweet scallops were complemented by the perfectly fried batter, which itself had a little sweetness. There was a hint of salt in the batter was well, but it wasn't overpowering. The fritters were large bite sized, and didn't come with a sauce. They could have worked either way. I could have eaten a Cheesecake Factory sized portion.
Tapas are not that big, and between 2.50-5. The toasted almonds were amazing again, as were the deviled dates (thick cut bacon wrapped, stuffed with chorizo).
