A week ago, after calling for an entire day, I finally made a lunch reservation for 1.30 pm today. D-day arrived, co-worker and I enthusiastically walk over to the FB. We got there before 1.30pm, and were told our tables would be ready shortly. Seated at 1.50 pm. Since we had time to wait (oh wat a privilege), we studied the menu and could decide right away. Waitress Nicole takes our simple order of Imperial Roll, Shaking Beef and Gulf Shrimp.
Imperial Rolls arrive instantanously. It's good. We devoured it. Mistake - coz Shaking Beef arrived at 1.23 pm. 6 whole cubes. Luckily there were only 2 of us. We tried to go slow this time, and were glad of the generous piles of red onions. The beef was well charred on the outside, and just right (slightly rare) on the inside. Presentation was different from the Brannan St location. This one was haphazardly thrown together in a plate.
We tried to eat more rice so as to make the dish last, while waiting for the shrimp. Bus boy decides to take our plates away after we finish the beef. He tried to remove my condiment dish of chili sauce but was stopped. Told him I needed that for the gulf shrimp. He looked bewildered. He will check with the kitchen/waitress he said. He came back with new plates but NO GULF SHRIMP. Waitress (who had not once checked on us on the meal) finally appeared and I asked her about the shrimp. She slapped her forehead (ok I imainged that) and said it was sold out but she FORGOT TO TELL US, but NOT TO FEAR coz she will comp us w/ carmelized shrimp instead. Hungry and pissed off, I nonetheless smiled and said "ok".
Carmelized shrimp arrived in less than 5 minutes. We ate up and paid up.
