my sister visited
and boy did we chow
in middleburg, va
we went to magpies cafe
and had succulent mussels
in white wine and garlic.
their fried chicken salad
was okay, nothing great.
but then... a trip to
the upper crust
a little bakery by the safeway.
moist, soft, chewy snickerdoodles
and great, flat, crispy "cow puddle" cookies
and their fudge fudge fudge brownie.
it would've been perfect
with a blueberry pie... oh well.
then we had a taste of chrysalis' (winery)
2001 viognier white wine (a winner).
we bought some ripe, just-tart-enough grapes
along the side of the road.
then we topped off the nite
with soft shelled crab in phuket garlic sauce
at duangrat's thai, annandale, va.
however, i do not recommend
the hua hin fish market dish
with the crab in phuket.
two very distinct, separate
and not complementary tastes
