Sichuan Garden II Chinese Menu Translated into English

To give credit where credit is due, Dr. Jimbob/ 9Lives actually pointed this out yesterday, but the mention was buried fairly deep in a thread about "spiciest food ever". I thought this announcement was important enough to merit its own thread. This is true for the Woburn location but I don't know about the Brookline branch.

I had not seen the 9Lives/ Dr Jimbob comment until just a few minutes ago, so I was really excited when I walked in today and the manager immediately handed me the translated menu. He has actually been making recommendation to me over the past few months off of the chinese menu, but it was great to see the whole thing.

Today I tried the duck with black tofu, which is actually made out of taro (off of the Chinese menu). The black tofu has a gelatinous texture similar to some jellyfish and sea cucumber preparations. The duck was chopped into pieces (with bones) and covered in a brown, almost gravy-like sauce with pronounced black pepper and star anise flavor, along with a little heat, but not much.

The dish also contains pieces of red and green long hot peppers and slivers of garlic. Very tasty dish and a large portion (I'm having the rest for dinner).

I know in the big scheme of things, this really doesn't amount to much, but I do feel that having access to what was exclusively Chinese, kinda makes me feel that I have been "let into the club."
