Siam Cafe - Albuquerque

My husband and I live in Santa Fe and rarely are in Albuquerque together for anything but going to the airport (although I'm in ABQ a lot on business.) But last night we both were in ABQ after having worked there all day. So, we planned a trip to the Isotopes game and a meal at Siam Cafe first.

We were very pleased. We tried the Mee Krob for appetizer. Yum...big plump shrimp and those wonderful sweet, sticky, crunchy noodles.

Hubby's green curry was subtle and creamy, with a slight burn in the "finish". Very classic. I ordered a stirfry with lots of veggies, chicken and cashews. I ordered it spicy. It came hot, but not Thai hot. Could've had more heat. The brown sauce in the dish was complex and delicious.

We had to try Siam Cafe's version of Pad Thai and found it to be an excellent rendering of this classic dish. I liked the peanuts, chili and chicken on the side that you could mix in.

Very reasonable prices. Our tab was $30.

Downside: no beer (but it kept the tab low.)

Need to go back to try the salads, soups, more curries and more noodle dishes. On the way out we saw the specials board - lemon grass chicken...darn, we missed it. We'll have to go back for that, too.

Highly recommended.
