It seems to me that Toronto doesn't have alot of good deli restaurants. Shopsys deli used to be very good, indeed it (in the 60's,70's,early 80's,+in the past) was legendary for the quality of their deli-esp hot dogs, roast beef, hot tongue, etc. The last few times I have been there,(yonge+front street location) have been ok,nothing to really rave about. I wish we had Montreal Smoked meat-whenever I'm in Montreal,it is a treat. (Is the Brown Derby still open?) Yitzes is very good-or only ok. The Pickle Barrel has good deli. When the original Shopsy family ran the place(I knew them all very well-personal friends of my family) then it was a deli legend that lived up to it's reputation. Actually,it still is quite good, but nothing like it used to be. I also recall Hamburger Heaven,in Palm Beach. The finest Hamburgers I ever have had! The cheeseburger was wonderful. Too-Jays in Palm Beach:Great Deli!! Ponzios:Cherry Hill New Jersey:My favorite old fashioned diner!! The Pub:Cherry Hill New Jersey:Prime Rib-none better anywhere!!
