Sevan Bakery

I drove through Watertown on Mt. Auburn Street yesterday, and it reminded me of a place that belongs in my heart and on this discussion board...the best middle eastern grocery stores in the city that I've found are along Mt. Auburn St. in Watertown, especially the Sevan Bakery. They have all the spices you could need, including cardamom and za'atar.. a wide variety of olives (incl. kalamata and spicy green) served in bins, as olives should be...decent pita (although I've never encountered truly great pita in this country), and a huge variety of salads: humous, falafel balls, babaganoush, roast red pepper...Lebanese olive oils, feta cheeses of French/Bulgarian/Israeli varieties...skewers for grilling kebab or kibby...oh yeah, and behind the counter, on the top shelf, hookahs, backgammon sets, and blue glass eyeballs for keeping away the evil eye. Our finest middle eastern feasts usually begin here. Enjoy. I've made myself hungry now...
