Help - sest snacks and street food In Manhattan?

DavO | May 13, 2004 01:05 PM

I'm having some dear chowhound friends of mine visiting Manhattan for the weekend. We are on a budget so, instead of a few high end meals I thought I would compose a list of exceptional grazing options. Really tasty simple street food or small plates. Places where we can grab a bite just to hold us over till the next tasty snack. I'm hoping to show my friends the best of the best. We are very adventurous so any cuisine is fine. I would love any suggestions or additions to my list.

My grazing list so far:
OMS/B - Omusubi (rice balls) - 45th st. (bet 3rd & Lex)
Otafuku - Takoyaki (octopus fritters) - 9th st. (bet 3rd & 2nd)
Criff Dogs - Hotdogs - St. Marks
Caracas Arepa Bar - 91 E. 7th St. (@1st Ave)
Rainbow Falafel - 17th @ Union Square
Bahn Mi So #1 - Bahn Mi (vietnamese sandwiches) - Broome
Shanghai Cusine - Soup Dumplings - Bayard St
Roomali - Indian Sandwiches - 97 Lexington (@27th)
City Bakery - Cookies - 18th St. (bet 5th & 6th)
Roccos - Cannoli - 243 Bleeker St.
Chocolate Garden - Fresh made truffles - Thompson St.
