What do you serve for drinks at dinner parties?

As a native Texan, we grew up where the standard drink at all dinner parties is iced-tea. (It's the house-wine of the south!) LOL.

Some people only drink certain kinds of soda, but you could have 8 guests and 5 of them want different sodas (iet, not diet, Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Dr Pepper, etc.)

You could end up dropping $40 just for soda and end up with leftovers that I'd never drink. I only drink water, wine and the occasional cocktail.

When you're serving a dinner party or buffet style meal (not a cocktail party), how do you handle this problem?
