We're coming in from the greater NY metro area with a seven year old kid to Seattle (and Portland) for the July 4th week. We'll have about 7-8 meals in town. We're looking for some "must eat" recommendations - we love ethnic cuisines - Chinese, SE Asian - Thai/Malaysian/Vietnamese (-Stateside?) etc, middle eastern, Cajun etc. but would take any suggestions for "can't miss" places. We prefer cheap to moderately priced places ($ to $$$ on the "Yelp scale").

Of the few that we've already shortlisted, unfortunately, it appears that we will miss Salumi as they seem to be off for their summer break that entire week.

B ut we definitely hope to get to Un Bien (OR Paseo), one of the Din Tai Fung branches, a grilled cheese at Beecher’s Handmade Cheese and possibly The Walrus and the Carpenter. What are other "can't miss" places around town?

Also, looking for suggestions for a stand-out Thai place for one of the meals -maybe one of these places we shortlisted - Viengthong / Little Uncle / Soi / Noodle Boat?

Any cheap to mid priced seafood places that are worth a visit? We spotted a few Poke joints so welcome any recommendations for those....

What about reasonably priced creative small plates places where we could also take our 7 yo? She'd love a nice Brussels Sprouts app paired w say pork belly for instance!

Finally, what are great places to grab a coffee - in downtown / touristy areas of town?

We will be staying downtown so bonus points for places that are close to the tourist spots but will have a car to get us into town from PDX and back so we're more than willing to drive for great food.

Un Bien
Din Tai Fung
Beecher's Handmade Cheese
Viengthong Restaurant
Paseo Fremont
