Sea Salt (Berkeley) - mini-review

Sea Salt is a new addition to the Lalime's/Fonda/Jimmy Bean's empire (all owned by the same people). While Lalime's menu hasn't changed in last 10 years and Jimmy Bean's continues to be uneven, Sea Salt is another attempt at world domination with seafood being the focus of the menu. There are no entrees or appetizers, primi or secondi, everything is, well, food.

We ordered a bunch of dishes. The consensus was that the salads were great while the actual seafood dishes were okay, edible but nothing special. (I had a Lalime's deja vu right then and there). My dessert was a letdown (tart wasn't properly heated) but others didn't complain. I expect them to fix these glitches as they plod along. Overall Sea Salt is good for a bite if you live nearby, your favorite restaurant is booked and you don't want to drive anywhere else, kinda like [insert your favorite R-rated analogy here]

My only gripe is the chairs - they sure are uncomfortable!
