More Scranton and NEPA Wanderings - Report

Back to Scranton and following some Chowhound recs:

Glider Diner. The roast beef has been mentioned here a couple of times, and is the one dish the waitress recommends. It is really good and flavorful, served as a sandwich with gravy poured all over it. Niiiiice. This is an old diner expanded by a couple of rooms. Was deserted when we got there about 9pm on a Friday night, but quite a few people came in at 9:45. When one person came in and said she had a group of 17, I thought she was kidding! She wasn't. Open 24 hours on the weekend.

Lincoln Inn, Dupont, near the airport. This is in a house in a residential neighborhood. Serves dinner four nights a week, Wed thru Sat. Easy to love the ambience, but not so much the food. Red sauce tastes like it is liquified pepperoni. Homemade pasta is cooked lifeless.

Manning Farm Dairy: Great, great ice cream. Anything with vanilla will be just about the best ice cream anywhere. It can't get better than this, plus you can't go wrong. Whitehouse (vanilla with maraschino cherry), vanilla with peanut butter swirl, caramel critter (vanilla with caramel swirl and choco-caramel pieces), blueberry brickle (vanilla with blueberry swirl and cake pieces), are all sensational.

Senape's Bakery, Hazleton: (Pronounced like 'Snaps') They do a lot things well here if you are in the right frame of mind. Oddly addictive. they are known for their room-temperature boxes of pitza which are a typical tray pizza of the region but with an intense, concentrated sauce and a lot of parmesan. Also good garlic bread, Italian loaf, scones, and coconut-pineapple sweet roll.
