Sawaii Ramen - Outer Sunset SF

Dave MP | Jan 14, 2014 10:34 AM

Had a nice meal at Sawaii in the Outer Sunset this past weekend. It was my first time there. We had been interested in trying Izakaya Sozai, but it was too crowded there, so we came to Sawaii instead (the place was also pretty full).

Cold spinach came in a nice sesame sauce. Very good. Nice starter.

Agedashi tofu was freshly fried, also very good.

Bacon-wrapped asparagus was fine, but I could have made it at home. The bacon wasn't very salty. Tasted better dipped in soy sauce.

Rainbow roll was good. Nothing special, but nice. Filled with crab and avocado.

Tonkotsu ramen was good. Not the best ramen I've ever had, but still very satisfying. I thought the noodles were maybe a tad too soft. But otherwise, very nice.

Two of us shared all of this and it was a nice amount of food. Total bill was about $40 before tip, and this included a beer.

I'd definitely return. Most other tables had ramen, and there are some other interesting types to try.

Izakaya Sozai
