Have you ever made saurekraut ??

Its the first time i make it and my jar isn't 100% full to the top there is still room like 2-3 inch is this bad due to more oxygen being in the jar. My jar is sealed tight and just water is on the surface i added some more water and salt to it but there is still room is it bad?
