Santa Monica Openings

My partner and I went to Casa Escobar for the first time tonight. While trying to work off the brick of a tamale I had, I noticed several restaurants/cafes/whatever I hadn't noticed b/f. Just thought I'd give a heads up, in case anyone wants to try them....

We first saw a cookie place:

Cadet (a place apparently so cool that there's NO signage outside.... Place has been open < 1 mo and is already packed):

And, finally, an izakaya place to replace Akbar (this place also seemed to be doing brisk business):

Imagine I'll try the cookie place and Takuma soon enough. The ridiculously printed menu is so very Japanese that that alone makes me thing it might be good. ;)

Cadet is a bit spendy, so I may let someone else try it first....

Could one of these types of places please, PLEASE open near Wilshire/Bundy to help revitalize the area? TIA.

Casa Escobar,
Takuma,
Akbar
