My San Diego breakfast place is dead!

Ack! I was just about to share my greatest weekend breakfast treasure with this board, but then I went there last weekend to find a sign hanging on the outside of the building... "New Management." As if to mock my pain, the same brilliant old menu hung in the glass case outside. But as we were seated, my girlfriend and I were shocked to find a new, watered down, cost inflated menu.

T.D. Hays, a steak house in Pacific Beach where Grand meets the ocean, traditionally served breakfast only on the weekends. I've tried the dinner menu, and it just didn't impress me as much. The breakfast, in my humble opinion, was better than delicious, but there was more. The waiters were friendly, it wasn't very crowded (even on Easter at brunch!), and there was a gorgeous second story view of ocean....

On this particular occasion, the hollondaise on my eggs benedict was bland, and half of my girlfriend's french toast was soggy. Sigh.

Well, I apologize for not having shared it sooner, but I now inform that one need not go there. I've learned from the thread below in January that I should head a mile south and go to the Mission, and several other suggestions that I will try in the coming months.

My list:

The Mission- PB
Hash House-a-go-go
The Big Kitchen
Crepes de Paris- Hillcrest
City Deli- HC
Crest Cafe- HC
Potato Shack- Encinitas
Beach Grass Cafe- Solana Beach
Tip Top Meats- Carlsbad
Cafe 222
Hob Nob Hill
Little Chef- Ocean Beach
Champions- Escondido

Thanks for helping me through this tragedy! :-]
