It's my first Christmas here. With all this German food, I have to imagine somewhere out there is a killer stollen.

Any special fruit cakes, cookies, breads, sausages, etc, etc, etc i should seek out? Does anyone make an outsanding Buche de Noel?
What about Mexican / Latino holiday food? What about Greek specialties?
All sources considered ... stores, farmers markets, even church bazaars (St. Mark;s in San Marcos is celebrating Guadalupe Day and I hear the church ladies will be cooking up pozole.)
Ferrerra winery in Escondido makes a special port from Thanksgiving thru New Years. I have to say, I didn't like it as much as their regular port. They add spices to it and it made it too raisony tasting for me. However they are generous with free samples, so you might try them yourself. Great source for better than average and reasonable wine for parties.
