What to do with over-salted baked beans?

sunshiner1977 | Apr 7, 201902:34 PM     7

I tried to make this Serious Eats recipe for a potluck. Because I was serving 25, I doubled it, and it turned out insanely salty. I added three cans of northern white beans to try to dilute the salt, to no avail. Tried adding sugar, adding apple cider vinegar, even tried the potato method, to no avail.

I ended up bringing canned beans to the potluck and I've given up on rescuing the beans as such. But I don't want all these beans and salt pork to go to waste, so I'm thinking I might be able to use them for something else?

I'm looking for ideas. I was thinking of using portions of the beans as a base for a new soup, maybe pea soup? But that's about all I've got so far. Thoughts?
