A friend just returned from a trip with a large gift of saffron. Two questions:

1) Years ago a friend told me his mother used saffron oil to flavor rice...best rice I ever had. Any idea how to make saffron oil...just infuse it for some period of time?

2) Any other ideas for saffron...possible vegetarian main dishes or?
