Sacramento: Early Monday Dinner Near Discovery Museum

CyndiN | Dec 24, 201412:11 PM     8

My husband and I will be with two 9 year olds at the Discovery Museum this Monday until 4:30pm. We'd like to have dinner before heading home to Sonoma County. We don't know Sacramento at all.

Looking for:

Open Mondays (specifically Dec 30th) at 5 or 5:30.

Either not far from the Museum or more or less on our way home. Avoiding rush hour traffic (reduced next week I'm sure but still). Parking not a nightmare. Sit down restaurant.

Good, house-made food, not junk or fast food. Organic, local, a plus. Entrees in the $10-20 range.

Food restrictions: vegetarian or seafood dishes available, able to do a no-trace-of-dairy meal without removing all sides and sauces and leaving plain food (I can deal with some cross contamination, but not any actual dairy ingredients, including butter and ghee). Everyone else eats meat (except pork) but is happy with fish or veg.

Style: Open to a wide variety but not sushi (sushi is a family favorite but we're having it for New Years Eve). We love all Asian styles, Middle-Eastern, Mexican/Latin American, Ethiopian, and plain old Californian. Pretty much open to any style that fits the above.

Someone on another thread recommended Centro Cocina Mexicana, which looks perfect (and appears to be open, Mondays 4:00pm to 9:00pm). But it's downtown (9 miles from museum) and I'm concerned about traffic.

Thanks for any thoughts or ideas!
