Had a very nice lunch today at Vidalia. They have completely re-done their lunch menu with just a few extra $3 or $4 charges here or there for more expensive items. They had around 6 apps. My friend and I both had 5 onion soup - it was interesting, very frothy and creamy and not what I expected but good - not amazing, I wish I had tried the onion tart I had heard they were famous for.
The bread basket they offer is also a treat - great foccacia, rolls, and cornbread with an onion confit instead of butter. We went through two baskets!!
My friend had calfs liver, I had short ribs that were huge, meaty, and very tasty. Nice vegetables and horseradish cream sauce. There were around 5 entrees to choose from ranging from salmon, other fish, shrimp and grits ($6 extra)
Dessert was pear and apple crisp with cranberry ice cream (very good) and lemon pie (also very good).
The service was friendly and patient - and never felt like they were looking down on RW patrons as has happened at other places. Talked with the host on the way out and they really use it has an opportunity to bring in new business. I am very much looking forward to going back.
Now I have to go to the gym to make room for DC Coast tonight!
