My friend and I had a really bad experience at restaurant 2117 on Sawtelle in LA. After reading some good reviews on chowhound, we decided to give it a try last week.

Got there at 6pm. Admittedly we were early and were the first ones there (their sign said they open at 5:45pm). There was one staff person (looked like the hostess) who came into the area. Then she down sat at the bar, doing her paperwork. She didn't bother to say hi or acknowlege our existence in any way. Didn't even make eye contact. We finally just left after being completely ignored for five minutes.

Up till now, most of my dining experience has been in the SF/bay area. Is this usual service for LA?
