Restaurants & Bars 2

Roya --Sunnyvale Afghan

Ken Hoffman | Nov 11, 2003 07:40 PM

Roya is a new restaurant that is quietly decorated with Afghan artifacts and serves up a nice selection of Afghan favs. We enjoyed the kadu: baked pumpkin topped with a thick ragu and creme freche. Also the soup was very flavorable and robust--chock full of meat
and noodles. The steamed meat dumplings were wrapped with a lovely dough of the right tensile strength that held the contents together. The kebabs of chicken and lamb were not overcooked-the lamb pink in the middle and the chicken juicy and tender. The meal came with a pile of flavored basmati rice that was a nice accompanyment.

Good basic stuff...comforting and filling.
