Roppongi Report

We were in San Diego this last weekend for a soccer tournament for one of my sons and decided to try Roppongi, based on the favorable comments posted here. We went for the half-priced appetizers and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Our favorite was the sea scallops with tomato and thai basil hollandaise, perfectly-cooked with lots of flavor. Other favorites were the seared ahi and crab, and the shredded duck quesadilla. The mini lamb chops were good, the chicken satays ok but plain by comparison with the other dishes.
The only real miss was the Polynesian crab stack, one of their signature dishes. We all felt that the ginger in the dressing was so overpowering that we couldn't taste anything else in the dish. But we are looking forward to going back and trying some of the other appetizers.
The next night we ate at Ba Ren. Although we didn't try it, a number of other tables were having the hot pot, which looked very good.
