Rome - Help Needed for Clueless Chowhound

Pam in NJ | Feb 25, 2005 08:06 PM

Domestically, the Chowhound board has guided me (and fed me!) through New Orleans and the Napa we're crossing the Atlantic!

We're going to Italy for the 1st time this April and I need lots of help! We will be in Rome for 4 dinners and 3 lunches. I want to experience Rome the way the locals do...I don't need "upscale" "shi-shi" restaurants....I want good food....good wine....good panna cotta :-) !!

From the little bit of research that I have done so far, I understand that lunch is the larger of the meals (fine by me!) and dinners tend to be pizza.

We will be spending one day at The Vatican. The other 2 will be spent touring the rest of the city. We rented an apartment near the Campo de' Fiori - however - the locations of the "not-to-miss" restaurants can be anywhere in the city.

I appreciate your guidance and recommendations. Many thanks in advance!!
