River North on NYE--Walk-in at Bavette's or go with Siena Tavern? Drink only options?

It’s been a few years since I’ve gone out in a city for NYE and have never been in Chicago for it, but we’ll be there Saturday and was hoping for some last minute advice if anyone has input. In order to minimize frustration of getting around the city on a busy night, I’ve been trying to plan the night within a half mile radius of Kinzie & State.

Was really hoping for a cancelation and subsequent reservation at Bavette’s. Still no luck, but there’s only going to be 2 of us. Any comments on walking in before 6 and/or just eating at the bar?

Otherwise, we do have a reservation at Siena Tavern that I need to decide whether we should just keep for dinner. The menu seems very overwhelming for just 2 people. Any recent feedback on what to order?

And finally, I’ve been trying to do some research on options for a drink or craft beer in the area (before 9:30) that will be open without the need for a special party ticket/cover charge. Any thoughts on Bottlefork or River Roast as far as being a place with enough room in the bar that these could be good options?

Thanks!
