Review - Thai West Siamese Kitchen, Chatsworth

We came here for lunch today, and had a fantastic meal. I had the chicken satay lunch special, boyfriend ordered a diet coke and the spicy noodle dish with beef, and we shared fresh rolls as an appetizer and green tea ice cream for dessert.

We were each served a small bowl of wonton soup to start. It was a clear, peppery chicken broth containing a wonton with lean-tasting meat filling.

The fresh rolls were big and full of crisp vegetables and raw tofu. The dipping sauce was excellent.

My satay was good, not mind-blowing but a very serviceable version of a well-worn Thai-American classic. Boyfriend's noodles were spicy as advertised, and the beef was tender but not over-tenderized as is often the case.

The green tea ice cream was lovely and floral, no bitter aftertaste like some versions I've had. Served with crushed peanuts and a maraschino cherry and mint garnish.

Before tax, our meal was about $28. We thought this was very reasonable for an appetizer, soup, main dishes, a beverage and a dessert! Would come back all the time if we lived in Chatsworth - this place beats all the Thai food in Santa Cruz by a mile.
