Thanks to the responses from here, my husband and I decided to go to Cashion's Eat Place in Adam's Morgan for our baby-free splurge night in DC.
We had made an early reservation, 6 pm, to get the most out of our free baby-sitting, so the restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived. Basically just old folks. Nonetheless the hostess was very gracious and seated us in a nice quiet table.
My husband ordered a glass of scotch and the bartender was kind enough to pour this pregnant chick a quarter glass of a nice red wine. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it was called!
As for our meal, I would give it a seven out of ten. Good, but not great.
For our appetizers, we ordered:
-Goose Egg Salad- very unusual, and a little intimidating when it first came out! Once mixed up with the greens was very tasty. Largest yolk I have ever seen!!
-Goat Cheese Souffle- amazing!! melt in your mouth goat cheesy goodness
-husband: Duck Confit- he said very good, although crisper than most confits and not as much duck fat around the preparation as he usually likes.
-Me: stuffed lamb-- Not good! The cut of lamb was very very fatty, and not that tasty. Even my husband who loves fatty meat found it disappointing.
- almond custardy tart- sorry, I can't remember what this was called, but it was awesome! rich, but not too overwhelming
Overall, the service was wonderful. Our waitress let us stretch out our meal for a nice long time and was helpful without hovering. The only true miss was the lamb; everything else was very good.
