Sorry, this msg may be too long, but tried to edit down - no luck.
I'm coming to New York this week (1st to 6th Feb)
taking full advantage of
1. Cheap dollar vs UK sterling
2. NY Restaurant Week (For those interested, see itinerary below)
3. A full team of staff at my restaurant(Touch wood)

This will be a full on busman’s holiday, we’ve done the NY tourist trail before. This is research. I'm looking for restaurants in New York that buy mostly local produce. I must be having a bad google day, as searches such as "slow food NY" or "local produce NY state" are not yielding very much for me.

Just a brief (as possible)note, we run a French brasserie in UK. We have always tried to be great value with our food offers. We're probably the cheapest fresh food French place in our region. We're happy in that marketplace, feeding the public servants, teachers, nurses of this world rather than being at the beck and call of some arrogant banker or lawyer on an expense account.
We've lined up a new site in London, where we want to use local produce. To date, this is a bit of a Catch 22 situ, as the pioneering farmers and producers blazing the "Use Local" trail need to recoup their higher costs of marketting and distribution & so price themselves out of our spend category restaurant, where ironically it's cheaper for me to buy Argentinian or South African beef than from a UK farm 30 miles away.
Without going into the geopolitical reasons for that, it's a shame. We're trying to provide people on less than stellar salaries with food grown locally. Anywhere like that in Manhattan - preferrably European or American?

If you're interested, here's our exstg Itinerary :- we've only booked Vong & USC so far:

Tue L - ? D - Le Madri - friend works there : Wed L - Vong - always wanted to try it D- A good burger somewhere , Corner Bistro or Kitchen 22, st/thing like that (tho just read the T/Out top 100, so may change) : Thu L - ? D- Balthazar or Pastis if we can get bkg : Fri L - ?D- Les Halles - v similar to our outlook on food : Sat L- Union Square Cafe & farmers mkt there on same day D - Somewhere in MPD where we can have a party night : Sunday - Drip fed during residence at Mount Sinai after major coronary.

Any suggestions?
Thanks for reading. Tony.
