I made these refrigerator pickles yesterday and forgot to put them in the fridge after they cooled down. They were out for about 12 hours overnight. Thoughts on whether they are still safe to eat?
I doubled most of the recipe, using 2 cups of vinegar but did just 2.5 cups of sugar (instead of the 4 cups) because they were too sweet for me last time. The brine was boiling when I poured it into the jars and I put lids and rings on immediately and they actually seem to have sealed (they don't have any give when I push on the center), but I did not can them in a water bath.
I really hate to throw them away but would hate to get sick even more! Thanks!
