For those of us who will spend the next week baking for our church receptions, roadtrips to family and Easters at home, we're going to need someone to excite our creative juices. For me it is preparing desserts and pastries for a few hundred Easter celebrants with the caveat that whatever I make should not require a refriegerator. I've skirted around this rule in the past, but I don't think they will make an allowance for the picadillo empanadas I would actually like to make. So I am turning to you for inspiration. An avowed dessert hater, I will be making semi-savories in the form of pastel rice dumplings with coconut and sesame seeds, white chocolate truffles with cardamom and roses and pretzel crusted brownies with peanut butter topping. But I am easily swayed by any other good recommendations that can sit from noon until 10pm in a cold church hall to no ill effect.
