Red Onion

I have been meaning to write about this restaurant since it has become my favorite place to go and I have eaten there over six times. I live on the other side of the river and even though there are many new places to choose from, I always choose Red Onion because I enjoy the overall experience there.

From the moment we walk into the restaurant, no matter how crowded it is, it never feels like a scene like it does in some of the more "in" places in Rhinebeck. We love sitting at the bar and even having dinner there. Every person that has waited on us, both bartender or waitstaff has been really nice, helpful as well as tuned in to whether you want something else or if you want to be left alone. The drinks are generous and creative... the appetizers range from light tapas type of pick me ups to amazing hummus and fresh salads. The entrees I have tried and recommend are the pastas, steak, scallops over risotto, just to name a few. I usually find myself enjoying the food so much that I rarely have room for dessert. The one time I did, I ordered the strawberry shortcake and it came over baked and a bit hard and was taken back, no questions asked.

Which leads me to my final is clear that this restaurant's goal is to create a relaxed, romantic and casual experience whether you stop in for a quick bite or you linger for an evening.
