I and my husband will be meeting with his family in Monterey & San Jose this coming week (4 days in Monterey and then the weekends in San Jose). We're looking for inexpensive but interesting places to check out in the area. We're from DC, but the family lives in San Diego. We're up for anything with only an exception: must have menu for vegetarians (since one of us is vegetarian, she eats cheese & egg though).
I've searched the board and found some places that intrique me;
Passion Fish, Fishwife for seafood
Taste cafe or Fifi for lunch
Parker-Lusseau and Pavel's for baked goodies/pastries? We *love* sweets :) Any other suggestion? Oh yeah.. I heard something about Bombay ice cream...
I think most place I listed above are in or around Monterey. I haven't done any search yet on San Jose's, but thinking about Asian food (Indian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese).
Lastly, we will have a car, so a little bit of travel is not gonna be a problem (as long as there's parking at the destination, I guess!)
Any tips or recs is greatly appreciated! Thanks :)
