My daughter has recently begun to take an interest in cooking, which delights me no end. She's been experimenting with Chinese cooking, so I offered to get her a wok, utensils and a good cookbook to start her off.
She knows that her wok will have to be seasoned and she'll probably rely on youtube videos as well as written instructions. My first attempt at seasoning a wok was a dismal failure; my second attempt was considerably better.
So my questions for today are: which wok should I get her? Which seasoning technique should I recommend? And which cookbook should I include? Regarding the book, I'm thinking "The Breath of a Wok" by Grace Young, which is a favorite of mine. I love it as much for the insights as I do for the recipes. But maybe there's another book I should consider instead (or in addition).
