I'll be in town the weekend of the 20th for a Nick Cave concert at the Chicago Theatre. I'm bringing a friend who has never visited Chicago before, and I'm trying to gear the trip towards something she'll really get a kick out of. To give you a feel for what I'm looking for, we'll be spending most of our time in the Wrigleyville area hitting record and clothing stores, Architectural Revolution, The Alley, etc., and will definitely be stopping by a place called Iggy's for drinks and then dancing at Berlin.
If anyone can point me in the direction of something with plenty of "atmosphere", I'd really appreciate it. Type of food isn't that important. I remember going to a Chinese restaurant in NY a few years ago where all the waitstaff were drag queens, and then there was La Nouvelle Justine, but when I've visited Chicago I've always just done pizza, steaks, or entertained conservative family members at Ed Debevic's. Just want to find someplace crazy to compliment a crazy weekend. (If it were just me, I'd be way, way, more chowhoundish, but I'll have to wait for another trip that's all about ME!) Thanks!
